On Tuesday, July 8, we had the honor of welcoming more than 80 young people from the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale (IHEDN). This memorable visit was an opportunity to share enriching moments and introduce our company, JJGK Aero, to these promising young talents. About IHEDN The IHEDN is the leading European and generational association dedicated to issues of commitment, defense, and security. It is jointly sponsored by the Minister of the Armed Forces, Mr. Sébastien Lecornu, and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhard. This association plays a crucial role in training and raising awareness among young people about defense and national security issues. A busy day at BA125 and the Aeronautics Center The day was filled with numerous visits to Air Base 125 (BA125) and the Aeronautics Center. The young people from IHEDN had the opportunity to discover the infrastructure and activities of these iconic sites, while interacting with professionals in the sector. Michel Augen had the pleasure of presenting JJGK Aero, its activities, and its expertise. This presentation gave the young people a better understanding of our company, our missions, and our values. It was also an opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to training and innovation in the aeronautics field. This visit was a real success, marked by enriching exchanges and moments of sharing. We would like to thank all the participants for their enthusiasm and curiosity. A big thank you also to the Les Jeunes IHEDN association for their visit and their interest in our company. We hope that this day will have inspired these young talents and that it will mark the beginning of future collaborations.
After many months of work, we celebrated the completion of maintenance on the five H225 helicopters in the Ecuadorian fleet on Wednesday, June 4. This milestone was officially marked at a cocktail reception to mark the acceptance of the fifth and final H225. A collaborative and long-term project From October 2023 to December 2024, the Super Pumas destined for the Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense arrived successively at our facilities for periodic inspections, the addition of equipment, and a complete repainting. For several months, our mechanics, avionics technicians, boilermakers, painters, BT agents, and CAMO agents worked on the five helicopters. These aircraft will be used for troop transport, emergency response, and firefighting. Unique acceptance ceremonies This period was marked by three acceptance ceremonies, in October, April, and the first week of June. These events provided an opportunity to welcome members of the Ecuadorian army, including a pilot and mechanics, to our premises. Next steps in Ecuador The next phase of this project will take place in Ecuador, with our mechanics and avionics technicians returning the aircraft to service. This phase began in March with the first two H225s, which are now operational. A big thank you to all our teams for their masterful execution of the operations. We would also like to express our gratitude to Airbus Helicopters, in particular Guillaume Nakamura, José Lareo Asorey, Samuel Danan, Nicolas Curty, and Aurélie Pichon, for their trust and support throughout this project. We are proud to have contributed to the preparation of helicopters for the Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense for crucial missions.
Last Wednesday, we welcomed students from the Ecole de Production I Je Fabrique Mon Avenir Chaudronnerie Soudage et Electricité Istres to our premises. After hosting Théo and Jérémy, first- and second-year students, for two weeks for their internship, nearly 50 students came to our premises for a visit. Aged between 15 and 18 and preparing for their CAP (vocational training certificate) in industrial metalworking, they discovered our business and the specificities of the aeronautical metalworking profession. During their tour, led by Iliana Brahmia and Charlotte Pelletier, who presented JJGK Aero and its professions, they visited two of the three areas of our hangar. Florian Morata, our technical painting office agent, enthusiastically shared JJGK Aero’s expertise in the painting department. Thierry Barteau, head of metalworking and composites, then took the floor to explain the specificities of aeronautical metalworking and show them his workshops. The visit ended with a fun quiz and a prize for the winning team. Founded in 2021, the Production School located opposite our premises at the Jean Sarrail Aeronautical Pole in Istres is a technical educational institution offering a teaching method based on “learning by doing.” To this end, it places students in real-life production situations within a “school-company” environment, with two-thirds of their time spent on real work projects in a genuine industrial production setting and one-third devoted to theoretical instruction. This teaching method offers students numerous practical workshops and has a 92% success rate. A big thank you to the teaching team for their trust, and in particular to Anne-Gaëlle Villemiane and Aurélie Robert.
Yesterday, we had the honor of participating in a significant event at the Base Aérienne 125 Istres: the inauguration of the base’s museum as well as the “Mirage IV Tail Fin Memorial”. The evening began with an inspiring presention by Colonel Sébastien Esteve, who shared updates on the operational and event-related activities of the base, along with its perspectives and future projects. We then rediscovered the “Mirage IV Tail Fin Memorial”, which was restored this summer thanks to the remarkable work of our painting team. This renovation highlights a powerful symbol of the history of French military aviation. The evening continued with the inauguration of the museum, a space dedicated to preserving and sharing the base’s heritage. The event concluded at the mess hall, around a convivial cocktail that provided a special opportunity for exchanges and discussions.
